Frequently Asked Questions

+How do you approach your work?

My training and work as a dance/movement therapist taught me the value of observation, deep listening, and curiosity—skills I now use to help people and animals understand each other.

Most animals are willing to communicate, especially in the service of the people they love. I create a safe, confidential space to facilitate that dialogue. At the heart of my work is the belief that animals and humans share a powerful, meaningful bond.

+What issues do you support?

Animals are incredibly perceptive and respond not only to our words, but also to our presence and intentions. With this awareness, I help animals and their humans address:

  • End-of-life questions

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma healing

  • Anxiety and behavioral issues

  • Family transitions (loss of a loved one, relocation, rehoming, welcoming a new pet, etc.)

  • Attachment and bonding issues

  • Wellness check-ins (e.g., “How is my pet feeling?”)

  • Clarifying medical questions (to discuss with your vet)

  • Issues encountered with training

+How will I know if we are really communicating with my pet?

You may notice shifts in your pet’s behavior during, after, or sometimes even when scheduling our session! Sometimes my work affirms what pet lovers instinctively know. I encourage you to trust what resonates with your perceptions, emotions, and observations.

+What kinds of clients do you work with best?

My ideal clients are those who bring curiosity and a willingness to better understand their animal companion's experiences and perspectives. We have the capacity to grow and evolve, and our animal friends are often our best teachers!

+Can you get my pet to stop unwanted behavior?

It is stressful when our animal companions exhibit problematic behavior, and it is understandable to want that behavior to stop.

While I can’t guarantee immediate results, our sessions focus on understanding the root of your pet’s behavior. Sometimes, the insights and dialogue during a session lead to desired, positive results; if not, we can identify other resources and next steps to support you and your animal friend.

+Do you need to see a photo of my pet(s) to communicate with them?

Photos are welcome but not required. You’re invited to send a photo by email if you’d like, but a session can be just as effective without one.

+Does my pet need to be in the room with me when we communicate?

No, your pet does not need to be present during the session. The best communication happens when your animal companion is relaxed and comfortable, whether that’s by your side or lounging in another room.

+Do you make in-person visits?

I only provide individual sessions by phone or online, as this allows me to work with clients regardless of location. Remote sessions are especially helpful for aggressive or fearful pets and eliminate the need for additional mileage and travel expenses. In-person services are reserved for workshops and special events.

+Can I purchase a session as a gift for a friend or family member?

Yes, and I have a simple process to ensure that you only buy a gift session when the recipient is ready:

  1. Decide on the session length you want to offer as a gift.

  2. Ask your gift recipient to book a session on my website and indicate that it is a gift from you.

  3. I will confirm the appointment with the recipient and send you the payment information.

Please visit the Schedule an Appointment page, which includes information about what to expect during a session, session lengths, and fees.

+Do you communicate with animals who have died?

Yes. I have found that one or two sessions are the most helpful in processing the death of an animal companion, especially when the death is traumatic, unexpected, or in some way abrupt. The communication process can help both humans and their departed animal companions navigate the transition.

+Can you help me find a new pet?

I’ll do my best! Finding the right pet can feel overwhelming, but I’m here to help. We can review profiles together, identify general traits that stand out from photos and profiles, and discuss your impressions of any animals you’ve met or plan to meet.

+Can everyone learn to communicate with animals, and can you teach me?

Many people can develop their ability to communicate with animals. If you’re interested in learning, I can recommend books and classes from other animal communicators. While I don’t currently teach courses, I’m happy to support you in trusting your own awareness and connection with your animal companions.
