Frequently Asked Questions

+What happens during a communication session?

1. Prepare for the session. Come prepared for the session with any questions and concerns you have about the situation with your animal friend. Also, you’ll want to grab a notebook or other device to write down notes and insights gleaned during the session.

2. Seek and grant permission. Your animal friend may be hesitant to communicate with me because they are unsure whether they have your permission. I’ll ask you to communicate with your animal companion to let them know it is safe to speak with me and that they have your permission. If you have more than one animal friend in your household, I will first connect with and seek permission from the “alpha” in order to proceed with the session.

3. The session begins. At the start of the session I will listen to both you and your animal companion to discern where to first bring our attention in the dialogue.

4. Sharing insights. Similar to humans, some animals are open to sharing right away, others may need more time to build trust. As I listen to your animal friend, I will share with you both telepathic insights (information I hear directly from your animal friend) and intuitive insights (information I learn through my own intuition that your animal friend may not be aware of).

5. After the session. Feel free to send me any updates or one or two questions that may arise for you. If need be, we can set up a half-hour follow-up appointment.

6. Next steps. I rely on my years of experience to identify next steps and make recommendations for each client. Most clients get the support they need in one session. However, in some cases, a few sessions may be needed. Many find regular sessions helpful for themselves as well as their animal companions. This is especially true in the case of an animal that is acutely ill or in hospice care or that has other special needs. Other clients may have one session, then in a few years opt to contact me again when something new arises.

+How do you approach your work?

By listening and facilitating a dialogue that supports the bonds between humans and animals. As with humans, many animal companions are surprised to discover that an authentic dialogue with their humans is possible. Animals are perceptive and understand our verbal and nonverbal communication very well. Often they are eager to share their experiences with their human family members while others are quite shy or hesitant to share. In my experience, no matter the temperament, all animals want to help their loved ones.

+What kinds of clients do you work with best?

I work best with adults and children who need support in caring for their pet(s). It’s not uncommon even then for people to be skeptical and wonder if what is being communicated is real. While it is good to bring a healthy dose of skepticism to any process as a way to learn and make choices, it is also important to consider the insights that are shared in a session as valid pieces of information in support of your pets’ health and well being, and yours!

We all have intuition and experiences that we can’t explain through analytical and measurable means. Most of us don’t grow up learning how to access our intuitive skills. Sometimes my work affirms what pet lovers themselves already “know.” My ideal clients are those people who bring a curiosity and willingness to better understand their animals’ emotions and capacity to grow and evolve through a given challenge.

+Do you need to see a photo of my pet(s) to be able to communicate with them?

You are welcome to send photos to my email address, but it is not a requirement for the session.

+Does my pet need to be in the room with me when we communicate?

No, the best communication happens when your animal companion is comfortable and relaxed and that might be right where you are sitting or possibly he or she is lounging in another room.

+Can everyone learn to communicate with animals and can you teach me?

Yes, possibly! And as with any profession, everyone has aptitudes for different aspects of life, whether it’s engineering, nursing or playing sports. There are animal communicators who offer classes and who have authored how-to books and if you are interested I can send you links to those resources. Currently I do not offer courses but I will support you in trusting your own awareness of what you sense your animal(s) are communicating to you.
